Review content:
A group of us (4 women) went to a recent wine and dinner pairing night at McCrays on the square in Lawrenceville. The menu was mostly fish for this pairing. Although I'm usually not a fan of fish, I really enjoyed this menu and the paired wines. Three of the wines were from the same winery in Australia and were incredible. Each wine was perfect for each dish. The service was also incredible. After the meal, we got to meet the head chef. He was a really nice guy and gave us a lot of background information on why he chose each wine for the given course. \r \r First course was ahi tuna, followed by a very tasty seafood bisque. They then brought out a very fresh Caesar salad and the main course was Grouper Picatta with potatoes. \r \r The dessert was a banana split cheesecake that should probably be illegal, it was so good. This was paired with a Rosa Regale sparkling red wine from an Italian vineyard named Banfi. \r \r The portions of each course were perfect and like I said above, each wine was perfect for each course. I really appreciated the fact that 3 of the 4 wines were from the same vineyard. I have never heard of Gruner Veltliner before but I plan to look for more of their wines, especially the whites we tasted. \r \r Our group is already looking forward to the next wine pairing at McCrays. At $35, all from our group felt it was an incredible value. I had been to McCrays numerous times before but this dining experience was very different. I hope it continues to grow and is successful. With this quality, along with what the folks are doing at Lil River Grill, the Lawrenceville Square may become a fine dining destination. \r \r Can't wait until the next event. Pros: Choice of menu/wine pairings
