Review content:
What-A-Burger, a South Piedmont NC legend since the '50's. Eb Bost founded this legendary chain in Concord, NC in the 1950's. They are legendary for their 6 inch burgers. Mr. Bost had to have a bakery bake special buns for him when he started. At the height of this local chain's history there were numerous locations thru-out the South Piedmont of North Carolina. Locations were in Kannapolis, Concord, Mooresville, Mt. Pleasant, Albemarle and Harrisburg.
The signature items at What-A-Burger are the What A Burger, What A Cheeseburger, Dbl. What A Cheeseburger, What A Salisbury, and the What A Ranch. What-A-Burger is also famous for it's Cherry Lemon Sundrop and Witchdoctor's (originally called a Suicide). Sundrop introduced it's Cherry Lemon Sundrop in a bottle in the '90's rumoredly due to the popularity of the the ""WAB's"" Cherry Lemon's....
Currently What_A-Burger is still in Kannapolis (N. Cannon Blvd. and S. Main St. ), Concord, (S. Church St. and Old Charlotte Rd), Mt. Pleasant and Mooresville. Three locations still maintain their original and true drive-in status with small dining rooms and gigantic shedded pull-in complete with menu and speaker/ microphone podiums (Kannapolis and Mooresville).
Although I no longer live anywhere close to be able to enjoy a Dbl. What-A-Cheese w/ LTMO, lrg. half n half (half fries/ half onion rings) and a lrg Cherry Lemon Sundrop I do religiously make a visit or three when I come home to visit from NYC.
If your ever in the area, stop in and give it a try, you won't regret it!
Pros: Best Burgers ever...
Cons: Cash Only...
