On a weekend stay in Santa Cruz, we planned a visit to Marianne's. Locally, many of the ice cream spots in town sell Marianne's but we made the trip to THE store on Ocean Street. which offers the full menu of flavors. Open late on Fridays, there was a line at 9pm. The pleasant staff swiftly took care of customers so the wait was not long. What a variety of flavors for those who like to experiment and at reasonable prices per serving! I tasted a sample of lavender - delicious - but ordered rich-coffee'd Mud Pie. My friends chose cardamon and a coconut-pineapple offering which were tongue-pleasing. Marianne's is a worthwhile, quick stop on the Ocean Street route to Hwy 17 from the Boardwalk any day.
