RAT DROPPINGS ON BED SHEETS, DRAWERS, KITCHEN CABINETS AND SOFA CUSHIONS. My family and I rented a one-story 3 bedroom newer home in March 2011 from Shelly, a vacation planner at Starkey properties. We realized the morning after there were RAT DROPPINGS everywhere. We had 5 children less than 6 years of age and the youngest that was barely crawling had RAT DROPPINGS stuck to his knees. We called management and reported the problem to Troy.He came out to the house and witnessed the infestation first hand. Instead of offering a refund,Troy brought clean bedding. When my husband returned from fishing , he and my brother-in-law went to the main office of Starkey properties to figure out what they could do to make our stay better. My husband explained to Starkey properties, vacation planner Shelly that he was down in Port Aransas for business and he had rented the house for the family to come down over the weekend, while he worked on remodeling a motel near by. Starkeys Properties management made false reservations with us at the time. They told both my husband and brother-in-law that we were going to reserve a large beach house valued at $1600 a night for the price of $800 for 4 nights over the 4th of July holiday.Shelly also mentioned to my husband that the property next door needed drywall work to be done.Shelly showed pictures of the damaged ceiling and walls and wanted a price quote. My husband quoted a price of $500. Shelly told my husband that she would take $500 off if my husband would do the work since they had been looking for someone to do it. The house they promised to reserve for us was supposed to be at 145 Port Villgeo, off 1900 State Highway 361 and the house that needed patch work was on 141 Port Villgeo. As we left that weekend my husband drove us by and showed us this beautiful large beach house that we were all very excited and happy with. Sadly, on June 22, 2011 we discovered our reservations were never confirmed with the owner of the property and Starkey properties failed to contact usand reserve another home. Cathy, the office manager, has denied offering us the reservation and the patch job on the house next door. Shelly stated she had called and left a voice mail to cancel reservations. When I contacted Cathy, I had to scream and yell to be heard because she kept telling me she never had a reservation for us and would hang up on me. She hung up on me over five times in one hour of me calling. I realized I was not going to win, she was rude and unprofessional. I left messages for Marsha Starkey the owner and never heard back. I called everyone in their office and came to realize they are all trained to lie, and hang up on customers who have issues. I am not done with this company and I plan on getting a lawyer to make sure they do not treat others the way they have treated us. The funny thing is if we did not ever have reservations why would they call and leave a message to cancel our reservation. The stories have changed so many times, they now say they no longer are managing the property at 145 Port Villageo. If they no longer had the property they should have found us another property, now it's too late and everything has been booked. They don't care! Shelly who originally reserved the property has left a message on my cell stating she might have 2 rooms available. That does not sound like a nice beach house for 15 family members to enjoy a long weekend. I asked her what plan B was if she could not find a nice beach house and she had nothing to say. Don't ever rent here they will ruin your family vacation. Cathy the property manager has to be the worst of them all, she has other problems in her life that must make her the mean old witch that she is. I hope she does not have kids, she does not seem to care about children sleeping in a RAT infested place. Thank you Starkey for ruining my 4year olds birthday weekend and 4th of July.
