Review content:
Pasatiempo is one MacKenzie's outstanding world famous designs. He and Marion Hollins opened the course in 1929 just after he completed Cypress Point, and before he did Augusta National with Bobby Jones. He lived at Pasatiempo, adjacent to the sixth fairway, until his death. Restoration of the 18 holes was completed in October 2007--OUTSTANDING, EVER HOLE IS MEMORABLE! Golf Digest in their February 2008 magazine selected its Tap Room at Hollins House as one of the Top 50 ""19th Holes in America"".\r

Even in winter the draining is so good, and the greens so true, it can be enjoyed. MacKenzie is known for his greens; you'll fully understand why after your first three holes. And the staff here maintain his reputation through daily cuttings. The condition is a ""10+"" on everyone's scale.\r

Sit back and feel like you're a member as cart staff, pro shop staff, etc, attend to your every want; what a special feeling. It's feeling is classic, old world, with a great fireplace to enjoy a cup of coffee on cool morning before teeing off towards the beautiful Monterey Bay. Hang around after your round for lunch or dinner.\r

It's a 12 on a 10 point scale. The challenge of this par 70, 6500 yard course is beyond your wildest imagination, yet equally enjoyable to the high handicapper as MacKenzie's design allows alternate routes to the green. The low handicapper will marvel at hole after hole as he pushes the ""risk - reward"" envelope. You'll be talking about Pasatiempo for years, and coming back every chance you get. And at $200 is a bargain compared to Pebble and Spyglass.
