Review content:
I began going to Center Stage several months ago after having my niece's hair done there. Though there were a couple of times I was re-assigned to a different stylist because of issues with the stylist I booked with, overall I was happy with the services I had received there. Two weeks ago, I had an appointment to have a weave removed. The stylist I was booked with asked another stylist, Cleveland, to take down my weave while she worked on something else. It took a while for him to get the weave down and he wound up shampooing and finishing my hair. I was not thrilled with the way I looked when I left the shop, but I tipped him because I was not scheduled with him and he took me on to help the other stylist. It was only when I got home and started putting my hair up for bed that I discovered several areas where my hair had been cut out when the weave was removed. These areas included the kitchen area, the crown of my head where the weave cap is placed as well as areas right along the front edge. The next morning I immediately called my stylist and alerted her as to what had happened. She met me later that day and confirmed that my hair had been cut off. Though she felt the kitchen area may have been breakage (she was looking at it in low light), anyone can tell it, too, had been cut. She brought the issues to both the owner and the stylist, Cleveland, who denied any wrongdoing. The owner has refused to refund any money and I am told that she has accused me of trying to ""get a free style"" - something I really don't understand since I have never failed to pay my tab and I usually tip (something I KNOW a lot of people don't do). I have had my hair in multiple types of styles over the years - braids, quick weaves, wigs, interlock, etc. and NEVER any problem with breakage or cutting when the style was taken down. To this day, the owner has not contacted me or offered to make any amends. I am filing a complaint with the Consumer Affairs Bureau and submitting to them pictures of my damaged hair. If anyone knows of any other actions I can take, please let me know.
