I have had several horrible experiences with Ashley Women's Center. First of all, you will be on hold for hours trying get an appointment. Their medical assistants and office staff are very friendly but their doctors (especially Dr Howe) have a horrible bedside manner. Dr Howe was on call the afternoon I went into labor with my third child. I had already been in labor over 5 hrs at home with contractions 2 minutes apart and very consistent. When I arrived to the hospital the nurse called Dr Howe to tell him I was there. He told her to check my cervix and not to call him back until I was at least 4-5 cm and fully dilated. This being my third child I was pretty sure that this was true labor and my baby was coming soon. When the nurse checked me, she said I was only 3 cm and 60% effaced and I needed to walk. Thirty minutes later, my contractions were coming every minute and were VERY CONSISTENT and INTENSE. I asked several times for an epidural but the nurse said she couldn't call Dr Howe back until I was 100% effaced. Ten minutes later, my contractions were unbearable and I was begging my husband to take me to another hospital. After 8 hrs of HARD LABOR (and no Dr Howe) I screamed to the nurse that my water had broken and the baby was coming. At that point, everyone in triage was in my room and taking notice! They rushed me to L&D and finally Dr Howe showed up to delivery my baby. His only remark was ""wow, you went fast"". \r Four months later, I was seen in the office due to an ""unidentified mass"" . I was petrified. When I called for an appointment, Dr Howe was the only physician that could see me. He made me feel like such an idiot. After he examined me, he simply said "" that's JUST YOUR UTERUS you are feeling"". He was so nonchalant and uncaring. As I sat in his office with tears screaming down my face, he looked at me and said "" it's just one of those things that comes from having babies, no big deal"". I would not recommend Ashley Womens Center to anyone Pros: friendly office staff Cons: awful bedside manner
