Being from SF, I've been to my fair share of salons, and I love Salon Patine! It's definitely an incentive for me to make the 5 hour drive from San Francisco. Evey stylist here knows their stuff because the owners, Rob and Sarah, make sure to hire excellent people. If you're not sure what you want, you really should ask for a free 15 min. consultation either on a day before your real appt, or just before your appt on the same day. All the stylists are very knowledgeable, but if you are specifically going in for a cut, ask for a recommendation for a stylist good at cutting short hair, for example. If you want highlights, ask for a color specialist. I'd recommend Sarah, Stephanie, and Larry for color. Marisol is great at cutting hair too, for example. And for such great service, the prices really are very reasonable!
