I took the car in for an oil change and rear brake pads for my '96 Nissan Maxima. He inspected the car and told me that he should replace the rotors, the struts, front and rear brake pads, repair a minor leak, and change dirty brake fluid. In the end, I decided not to make these repairs and just do the oil change. Less than one minute after I left the shop, the brake warning light came on. I went back to ask the technician right away and he said that it was because the brake pads were thin. I later checked the manual which indicated that the warning was due to the brake fluid being low and indeed it was. Once I filled the brake fluid as indicated in the manual, the warning went away. The technician should have known this.
