I've been taking care of my pool for years. It was built by Robertson Pools, and I've been very happy with it. Recently my wife decided to go with Robertson for pool maintenance. Wow, I love that. It's clean, chemicals maintained, etc. They do a fantastic job at that. So, I decided to use Robertson to repair my pool (like I said, I've been fixing it for years, this is kind of a luxury)! I asked them to fix my skimmer (I have two, and one wasn't working). The repairman that came out said in fact it was working, and I needed a flapper in front of it (a door). Well, that fixed it! So, moved on to a few harder things. The pool heater is shutting off early, and the light need replacing in the spa. He replaced the light, but said that the receptacle was broken and he couldn't put it back. Hmmm...now I have a loose light in the spa. No problem, I went to the hardware store, got some silicon, and fixed it myself (I really thought that he should have done something). Finally, the heater. This is the second time I've asked Robertson Pools to come out and fix it. The repairman didn't examine it. Just said 'you either need a new heat exchanger or a new thermostat'. Dang, this guy is psychic! Oh well, I knew it was to good to be true. My neighbor and I checked it out, there are a couple of high limit temp switches connected to the manifold which fatigue over time. Granted, replacing the heat exchanger would have fixed that, but, it would have cost 40 times more. I am disappointed with the skills the repairman exhibited. Maybe they simply don't stock parts, so diagnosing the problem would be impossible. Unfortunately, this is the way things are going. There isn't anybody left that can fix things at the component level. I'd recommend Robertson for the easy stuff.
