Good news, Friends For Life is now in the Heights with a retail store front to make animal care and adoption convenient. They are in the Heights Shopping Pavilion, by Shade restaurant, at 246 West 19th Street. Their new location is open on Tuesdays-Saturdays, from Noon to 6:00 PM; and on Sundays, from Noon to 5:00 PM. They also have a new website--AdoptFriends4Life(dot)org.\r \r Friends For Life's contemporary location in the Historic Heights opened April 4, 2009. Eric and Brooke Summers-Perry created gorgeous and unique architectural designs in the 3,000 square foot center that are state-of-the-art functional.\r \r Whimsical art hangs on the gallery walls and proceeds from the paintings are donated to the adoption center. There are even some art pieces painted by the shelter animals! They have a non-proft retail storefront with fun toys and pet-related goodies. \r \r The cats have a playroom where they watch cat TV, and the dogs have an indoor air-conditioned area reminiscent of a Heights front porch for lounging outdoors and visiting neighbors.\r \r I adopted my rescue pup there and had great support from the founder (Salise) and a dedicated dog-care volunteer (Lisa). Fostering and adopting a dog was such a positive experience and really enhanced my life. I take my rescue pup with me everywhere now.\r \r They also have cat adoptions at their PetSmart Adoption Center (Store #: 1107), at 2902 S. Shepherd. Their adoption hours are 5:00 to 8:00 PM, from Tuesdays to Thursdays; and from Noon to 5:00 PM on the weekends.\r \r Visit them in person and see how you can save some furry souls. They are also on Facebook as ""Friends For Life Animal Rescue and Adoption Organization - Houston, Texas"" and on Twitter as ""@FFLHouston"". Pros: Best animal care for rescue pets and they moved to Houston! Cons: Need more donors and volunteers to save more animals
