I went there on 9/24 for my birthday, we had recieved a coupon in the mail. my wife and I went with another couple,(also Chefs like us). we got there, they sat us down after they had to clear a table where children were sitting, it was a mess. but there were plenty of other tables clean and ready to go. but they chose to make us wait while they clean the dirty one. we asked to move. they said it would just be a minute. and made us wait some more. after a few minutes a young waiter with a fake french accent came to our table, with a made up french pretenious name, asked us if we would like water. and left and came back 10 minutes later with water, not very cold water actually, not even any ice in it. he then asked us if we were ready to order, did not ask us if we wanted a drink? just to order dinner. we told him we would like a drink and some appetizers first. my wife told him it was my birthday, he did not acknoledge her or say happy birthday to me. but that was fine. we got drinks and the calamari , the drinks barely had any ice in them. and the calamari was cold. it came with a dipping sauce that had no taste.except for mayo. we asked for some marinara sauce, he said it doesnt come with that. we asked for some any way. we finally ordered our entree's, my wife and the other male ordered the rack of lamb, it came out dry and hacked up. i could have put the whole rack in my pocket, thats how small it was. the sides were cold. i ordered the veal parm. it came with some wierd kind of white sauce. that did not belong to this dish whatsoever. it also had no cheese on it. so why is it called veal parm? oh and by the way, the veal was overcooked. and chewy. if you dont kknow how to cook veal, you just shouldnt do it. the waiter never came over to ask how everything was.? never came and asked if we needed another drink? at the end of our meal asked if we had room for dessert? and we said no thanks. no complimentary birthday cake? oh well i didnt expect it from these wannabees any way. while we sat and opened our presents the staff and the chef(not even italian by the way- mexican). they all looked at us like - when are you people going to leave? i guess they needed to get home and watch hells kitchen or something. we got the bill and we said to the waiter, we recieved a coupon in the mail, but forgot to bring it with us, (because we were excited to try a great italian dinner(which is hard to find in Austin). but he told us he could not honor the discount without the coupon. oh well again. all in all we had a very bad taste in our mouth after leaving this so called italian restaurant. we wont be back. i suggest you dont even bother trying it. you will have better luck at johnny carino's.or chili's at least they have good service. \r \r why is it so difficult to find good italian food in this area.? i have been a chef for 16 years i have worked at 4 star restaurants for 8 of them. and it never ceases to amaze me, how simple food is ruined every day across this country. \r \r shame on you Tony & Luigi !!!!! Pros: nice ambiance Cons: everything else
