It is a shame how down hill Wheat and Rye is going. The food is pretty good, and they have decent drink specials, but the service and management have major problems. The will not serve a glass of ice water. The only way to get water in Wheat and Rye is to purchase a bottle. When I asked to speak to the manager about the waitress refusing to bring me a glass of water, she told me, ""it is the manager's rule, and he doesn't care if you complain."" This tells me one of three things. The waitress was lying and wanted a higher cut of tips due to a higher bill, the manager is completely arrogant, or they have some water issue and are making customers paying for the repairs. I didn't feel like having a beer yet, and was not paying for water, so I ordered a pop. Apparently there are no refills here, or the wait staff is not familiar with customer service. My glass was empty prior to the food arriving, and was not refilled once during my visit. Based on this experience, I will never be returning to this bar, and have notified a good number of people in the city about the terrible visit. I am curious as to what would happen if I ordered a bunch of drinks, and asked for water to sober up. Based on what I heard from the waitress, the manager would rather I get behind the wheel drunk than serve me a glass of ice water.
