Review content:
This is the fourth time my family has gone to this Axel's, and the food and service keeps getting worse. The place is more crowded every time we go, so maybe that's the problem; they can't handle crowds. Usually, there has been something to recommend the place and keep us going back, but the last experience was the final straw. We'll never eat there again. \r

Examples that happened every time we've been there: someone orders steak and inevitably sends it back for being overdone. Or, the server talks up wine choices, only to be told by him or her A HALF HOUR LATER that they are in fact out of the wine we just ordered on the basis of that recommendation. Drink orders arrive intermittently or not at all. Last time, we waited an hour and a half after ordering for food to arrive, even after reminding our server that we needed to leave by a certain time (we arrived three hours before we needed to leave, so it wasn't like we didn't give ourselves enough time for dinner). Our meals arrived lukewarm iand two of them had to be sent back for being done incorrectly, including serving one of our party (who has a life-threatening allergy) a dish with the ingredient to which he was allergic, even after several of us commented how severe the allergy really is. The server seemed utterly unconcerned about the messed-up orders and allergy issue. The vegetables had been sitting too long under a heat lamp, and ended up wilted, over-salted. The same vegetables were served with all entrees, and clashed horribly in taste with what three of us ordered. Scalloped potatoes had not been heated properly and ended up with a soggy crust and tasteless sauce. The popovers they serve as the bread selection arrived at room temp, which, if you've ever had popovers you know gives them a gummy interior texture that borders on slimy. \r

Pros: Free suburban parking; wide menu
Cons: noise level, inability to deal with a full restaurant
