Review content:
If you are tired of worldly services and weak preaching, come to St. John's Reformed Church. The preacher is Spirit-filled and really knows how to teach the Word. The services start at 10 AM with an in-depth Bible Study and continue after a 15 minute break with praise and worship. The organ playing is beautiful, the people are friendly and the hymns are solid. The people are open to new ideas. Even though the main building was built in the late 1800's, it is well maintained, air conditioned and comfortable. Children are instructed in several classrooms during Bible Study, but are included in the main service at 11 AM. No one grabs your kids and rushes them away to some other part of the building during the main service. That way, they grow up in the congregation instead of away somewhere else. This is a growing congregation, yet small enough to keep from getting lost in the crowd. The pastor is personable and is not upset by fussy kids. In fact, each week, he has the children come forward and speaks with them. Some sit right with him as he relates something from the sermon for the day. If you are looking for a place where you can fit in and grow in your faith, visit St. John's Reformed Church in Chicora, PA. You will be glad you did the very first time you visit. Everyone is welcome. Come as you are no special dress codes or rules to follow. The people are relaxed. The services are kind of old fashioned, yet without being rigid. Everyone moves with the Holy Spirit and the love of God quickly envelops anyone who walks in the doors at 334 W. Slippery Rock Street. If you are hungry for the whole counsel of God, the complete gospel without sugar and no omissions, then you have found your new fellowship. St. John's is an independent community church with roots in the German Reformed movement of the turn of the last century. The preacher takes the message of Christ seriously and preaches it right out of the Scriptures without apology. Come and be blessed!
Pros: Plenty of parking, great ambiance, Accessible Pastor, Quaint Brick Building with beautiful stained glass windows, friendly, loving people.
Cons: Older (but growing) congregation, few programs
