Recently moved to his area, so we thought we'd go to Claws 'n paws on Route 8. The first time I took my dog to get his nails trimmed, it was a very, very nice experience. Liz greeted me and my dog, she was awesome! The owner gave great service and trimmed Jake's nails very close. She didn't just clip them, she then used the little sander on them-- perfect! I wrote a five star review on this page-- The second time however, was the total opposite experience. :( The gal (I think her name was Terry) scooped up my dog and headed into the back-- I was trying to tell her her that his left hind knee was bothering him (he had surgery on his ACL) I swear, she ignored me and kept walking. Okay fine-- then he put him in the harness-thingie and immediately picked up that leg to start with! She was rough and he tried to nip her! I was quite surprised and tried to reiterate about his leg! Again, I was ignored and now she's trying to put muzzle on him. He has never had on a muzzle and was really scared, peeing and soiling himself. I offered to put it on him as he WAS now going to bite her-- gosh, now this was getting ugly-- I'm in the front room looking through an opening and clearly upset, asking them to not do this. PS~ I'm mad at myself for not simply going back there and taking him out of that ABUSE. The owner then put one of those plastic collars on him and that Terry (?) girl clipped his nails. I wish I could say she did a good job-- it was in fact the worst one ever. Ridiculous. Some short, some long and most very Jaggy. Upon paying, I showed Liz and she agreed with me. Jake was a mess and Liz offered a paper towel so I could wipe his underside. I said no thanks-- but what about his nails? Terry came back out with an emery board and said, I don't think he'll let me touch him, though. (no kidding-- he's a smart as heck dog and he'll remember you forever!) She then said ;""Oh, the concrete will wear them down"" If you're going to Claws 'n Paws... don't let your dog near her. On the drive home, I actually had tears and couldn't decide if I was sad for Jake or mad as a hornet. I swear, I'm not the complaining type-- but when I called the next day to simply let the owner know I was still upset... I left a message and she didn't care enough to call me back. Well, that was a few weeks ago-- so here's her Updated review. *sigh*
