Review content:
I can't believe I'm the first to review what is not only the best shop in Sacramento, but the best mechanic I have ever brought my cars to. We returned to California in 2003 with a '98 VW Passat wagon with already over 100K miles on it; by luck we picked Stephan to do the work at the garage he was working with back then, before he opened his own business. Stephan and his crew are the best mechanics I have ever had work on my cars; they are dedicated, proud professionals, who admire a job well-done, and care for my vehicles as if they were their own. Over the past several years, we've brought our '98 wagon, a '87 MBz 300E, a '72 Squareback Sedan to Stephan, and his work--and that of his mechanics--has always been excellent. Every repair is explained in advance, and estimates are spot-on, right down to any disposal or State fees you might not hear about at another shop (no names mentioned here!). The fees Stephan or Sara quote you are going to be within a dollar--maybe two--of what you'll pay. (On the one occasion we had a complaint about the work done, no sooner was it mentioned than an appointment was set up, the correction made and done. ) In addition to Stephan and his mechanics, the office manager Sara is the single best informed person I have ever met, regarding VWs, Mercedes and BMWs; her mental library and knack for finding the best deal on parts is one of the best parts of bringing our vehicles to SAH! Got European cars that are out of warranty? Save the hassle of going to the dealership, and bring your car to Stephan's...you'll be glad you did. Stephan's has been the only shop to work on our Passat wagon--and it's at 248,000 miles and counting! Pros: Great staff, great work, on time and cost; nice waiting area Cons: Poor location, hard to find, no loaner cars
