Review content:
I purchased two blue leather recliners 4 years ago. The recliners rocked but did not swivel. Because of this, it was difficult to arrange furniture in the family room. Also, the foam in the seats of each recliner needed replacing, and one of the recliners had a split about 1 to 11/4 inches long in the leather in the front due to stress on the leather. I called Y and J. Mr. Yarborough came out within a few days. The break in the leather was pointed out, the foam in the cushions, and the request to have the chairs made into swivel as well as rocking recliners. He stated he would check with the Lane company to find out if they had swivel mechanisms which could be used. He called back within a few days with the news that the swivel parts were available and gave the price. My husband and I stated we would like to have the work done on the chairs. The price was $537.28. The chairs were picked up promptly. The chairs were returned in approximately two weeks. The swivel mechanism works great. Nothing had been done with the split in the leather. I was really disappointed because this was one of the three items brought to Mr. Yarborough's attention. One of the men that delivered the chairs told me to take a black magic marker to cover the white backing on the split! The cushions looked good. Within two weeks the cushion in the chair my husband sat in looked just like it did before the work was done. My husband is not a large man. I was still unhappy that we had paid the price of a new chair, and after the failure of the cushion, this left only one of the requested items that had been handled. My husband called Mr. Yarborough after about a month. Mr. Yarborough said they would take the chairs back and put in ""better foam"". Why wasn't ""better foam"" used to begin with? I talked to Mr. Yarborough before the chairs were picked up again. I told him how disappointed I was that the split had not been repaired. He told me this would be very costly, about $175. I said if this had been included in the first price, I would most likely have approved the cost because this was one of the three items I pointed out to be repaired. My feelings now however were different. We paid $537.28, the cushion in one of the chairs failed within two weeks, the swivel mechanism works well, but the split was never addressed...I was not told of the extra cost to repair this, so therefore I assumed all three items would have been handled. I was not willing to pay the extra amount now because of what I felt was inferior work. The chairs were picked up, kept for two more weeks and returned today, October 27. The cushions look good. Hopefully, the foam in the cushions will stand up this time. As I stated to Mr. Yarborough, in the future if we have chairs that need repairs, we will purchase new chairs.
