Review content:
I have stayed at the inn a few times. The area surrounding the inn is beautiful and scenic, the food choices (particularly breakfast) in the nearby areas is outstanding. Landscaping and exterior features are great. The staff at all of the locations up in the general area are also wonderful - friendly and so helpful ( I mention all this because I understand most of the entire Bluff View district is owned by the same party?)\r \r On the whole I can say that there are some great points to the general area but even as a lover of old homes there need to be MAJOR renovations to the main house guest facilities where we stayed. The sleeping rooms were not in disrepair but we encountered frayed and over-worn bedding. The doors have not been sealed at all and our conversations must have been easily overheard by other guests as we could all easily hear them through the room doors (though not the floors or walls). The bathrooms are critical and this is my major complaint given the cost of the room - hence the two-star rating given here. Antique fixtures which are charming if somewhat clean were exceedingly worn and dirty-looking. I don't doubt that the bathrooms are cleaned, but some of the vintage fixtures just didn't show well even if they were scoured. Lots of broken tile in one shower was left cracking all over (and the silverfish appeared there late at night, always creepy). And someone told me a whirlpool tub in their room didn't work (though it was a modern update of course). The (original?) toilets were somehow cracked and blackened in their bottoms in two rooms I saw. I felt the bathrooms were just ruining the whole experience- I would avoid returning until the ownership cared to take a little more pride in this important aspect at least. Please understand that a day visit to the Bluff View district is TRULY GREAT but the overnight stay is perhaps better spent elsewhere in town. Pros: great area, food, friendly staff is great as well Cons: bathrooms bring the whole house down - desperately need attention
