You know when the plus-60 senior citizen crowd visits a place, it has to be good (or atleast, cheap). Veselka is that East Village staple that has managed to brand itself so well you keep going back for more. Traditional Polish foods like borscht and pierogies meet regular diner food and brunch items like pancakes and waffles. Though there is ample seating, demand is high and there is sometimes a wait. Oh, and did I forget to mention this place is awesome late-night, after the bar? Try the desserts, which are hard to resist if you glance into the clear window of the dessert refrigerator. What a sneaky sales tactic. I recommend the baked chocolate custard. YUM. Enough to share. There are some real ""Far Eastern European"" dishes as I call them, for the more adventurous types. Or maybe they are just regular food and I am simple... Pros: Polish specialty foods, location
