I have been bringing my vehicles to George at Aastro Transmission and Auto Repair, for the past 20 years. Prior to that, I took my vehicles to other service centers in town. Although I found many of them adequate, I often had to take the vehicle back to have them complete the work they were supposed to do. Being retired military, I am a stickler for having a job done on time and done right. Since I have been bringing my vehicles to George at Aastro Transmission and Auto Repair, I have found their work to be outstanding. They have always had the work done right and done on time. If there were any unexpected problems, they always called me. They let me know what they had found, and were always ready with options to solve the problem. I could then make my own decision as to what was to be done. They followed through on the instructions and did an outstanding job each time. An example of this, was when I had my '69 Mustang in for repairs. I had told them I had a certain amount I could spend on repairs for that car. They called me and informed me that they could do a major part of the repair for the cost. However, they would be using just basic parts. If I was willing to spend a little more money, they could upgrade those parts for ones that would give better handling, stability and longer life. I agreed with their recommendation about upgrading the parts and appreciated their caring. We experienced another example of their exemplary service, while returning from California in our 1998 Ford Contour. The car died completely on Interstate 10 doing 75 mile an hour. We were able to get to the side of the road and placed a call to George. Although George didn't give us an exact place, he did indicate an auto repair shop that he had heard good things about that was in the area. We were able to get the car towed to this service center and have it repaired. It took them two days to do repair work because of special-order parts. However, George was correct in that they did a good job, and kept us apprised of what was happening every step of the way. We were very grateful for his “above and beyond” help while we were so far from home. I have recommended George and his staff to several people I know. All of them have informed me that they were extremely happy with the work done on their vehicles by George and his staff. They were also very happy with their treatment. George and his staff are honest about what they find with the vehicle. They are pleasant to work with, and they will work with you to get what you need and/or want done. They are never aggressive or forceful and will repair only those things that you want repaired. They tell you up front what needs to be repaired, and what the cost will be. They break the cost down part by part and by each labor task, so you can make an intelligent decision about what you want to have repaired. We labeled George as “Dr George” for our young son. We knew George was very good at what he did, “healing” the car problems and our young son could not understand the concept of a mechanic. When we labeled George as the “doctor” for our car, our young son immediately understood what George did. George has always been friendly, courteous and willing to help in whatever way possible. When we had motorcycles that needed to be disposed of, he was able to put us in touch with someone who could do that for us; even though he really didn't have to. Just another example of the “above and beyond” help George has always offered. Ralph D. Bolvin
