Lenny's Sub Shop

Review content:
Lenny's is located in the western section of downtown dallas, a 10minute stroll from the banking/financial district. The intersection of Field and Jackson is home to this medium sized sub shop and is a local favorite among the blue collar crowd and the few and far between white collar professions that walk over from the more eastern side of downtown. With seating for 30-40 people, Lenny's subs can usually be found at lunchtime about half full - some choose to stay and eat while others grab to-go and head back to the office. Don't let the colors or menu deceive you - while they are directly stolen from competing Jersey Mike's, there is no relation. The food is about as bland as the menu, with the subs offering few spices or flavors to jump off at you. The bread is very soft to almost soggy, the condiments nothing more than regular, and the meat has a wet and rubbery feel much like it had been pulled from a pre-purchased Tyson deli-meats package and not freshly sliced in front of you. Regardless, the ingredients combine to create a healthy and tasteful sub, one that has become a local favorite for professionals in downtown Dallas who are sick of the pricely lunches or overly Italian restaurants that permeat the city. While Lenny's is great don't let the loyal downtown following fool you; similar chains like Subway, Blimpie, Jimmy Johns sandwiches and the highly acclaimed Jersey Mikes subs are certainly a head taller. If you're in downtown and looking for a fresh eat and tasty sub, Lenny's is the place to go.
Pros: good taste, $8 for a sandwich, chips and coke
Cons: poor service and ingredients that don't seem fresh; rubbery meats
