Review content:
I am a relatively new customer. I saw your ad of a Tiramisu and Coffee for $4:99 on South College in 2009 Spring and went right in. I ordered myself tiramisu to gain some morale, and rather liked your tiramisu (means: Lift -me-up in Italian from my Italian days when rather young - quando ero giovane)... Toomer's tiramisu enjoys the same recipe as the one at Publix with a slight coffee taste but still fulfilling and refreshing and not too sweet luckily.... The coffee shop has a college-gathering like atmosphere such as the ones I recall at Austin's backstreets around the University of Texas, and it could very well be a nice meeting place for academics and students as well to get out of the boring college confines. The student serves are courteous but not very business savvy (like when there is no tiramisu, one college girl serving would say , ""Since we don't have Tiramisu,"" which was the main reason I went in there, ""the advertised $4.99 deal is off because the add does not say keylime pie!!??! "" so she says, ""I have to charge you full"" and she charges me 70cents more, but that is OK, I smile...).. But they are tolerably young and learning business. However the owner is a very kind lady - who told me about the history of the Toomer Coffee, and how they processed their own coffee brand for years, and how they had to move from the opopsite side of the town to the present location about 5-6 years ago(?)- certainly knows customer etiquette. I recommend this lurking and unappreciated/underestiamted coffee shop to all walks of life whether they be students or AU academics or plain families if they wish to have a home-like atmosphere with quality coffee and pastries, and the rest... I hope Toomer's Cofee will thrive to be serving its clients of future generations, young and old for many years to come in a pleasant setting (may need more lighting inside- only my humble opinion) without falling prey to the unfortunate vice of war-fatigued, fear mongering, mislaigned and mismanaged economy from the turn of the century on...\r
