As a freqent traveler to Dallas where they know their TexMex, I'd been hard pressed to find a decent Mexican restaurant in the NY area. South the the Border more that satisfies my requirements. Prices are a little higher than you might see in lesser places, but the food is always excellent and the service is brisk and curteous. Start off with excellent chips and salsa and the great drinks from the bar. A pitcher of sangria is a perfect starter for a group and comes in both a red and white variety. Entrees range from tacos and burritos, to excellent meat and seafood offerings. Their mole sauce is delicious and is a particular favorite of mine, and the torillas are light and thin which makes the entrees much less heavy on the stomach. The only downside is that it can get a little noisey and the place is always busy on Friday and Saturday nights. Still, it's well worth seeking out. Pros: Great Mexican food, good drinks, fun atmosphere Cons: Very noisey
