I lost my home recently to a fire and I enlisted the help of this company. I didn't know anything about remodeling or the process at all, the contractor who was handling my bid new this and took full advantage of it. I've already paid for 40% of the work that's been done on my home and I'm so disappointed I could cry. I'm a single mom who is working full-time with a child who has a disability. I wasn't consulted about any of the renovating details or choices in products. After I signed on the dotted the contractor did not monitor the work of the ppl they hired. However, ""I"" kept in constant contact with the contractor who just kept assuring me everything was fine and looking good. He even gave me a tentative move-in date. When I went by the home the shabby work was obvious to even and inexperienced eye like mine. Not disclose dollar amounts but really to give you an idea....I have a single family dwelling unit (3 bedroom). I had a total of $133,000 of insurance coverage, a separate $26,000 for the demolition of it. My home was built in 1952 so after the fire, smoke, water, and sledge hammer it took from the demolition, a lot of the frame work was cracked. Did they replace it??? NOPE. Did they replace my roof? NOPE. They only took the shingles off and replaced them, so my roof already looks to be about 6 or 7 years old. Some of the wood underneath the roof had dry rotted and what they did was put new ply wood over that, felt on top of that, and nailed new loose shingles on top of that. They have not passed a single inspection, the inspector has been to my home so many times to review the work that I'm sure he feels like he lives there. Then the contractor tells me, ""This money is not to build you a new home"" well I'm sure it wasn't to line your pockets with either. Then hurricane Ike comes to town. No one has been at my home for 3 weeks. No their not volunteering, soliciting bids is what they're doing.
