I am half french and italian. The food reminded me the one i was brought up with (Provence and Italy). We ordered their salad as an appetizers. As a vegetable gardener myself, i could fully appreciate the freshnesh and flavor of the home made vegetables. The halibut and the veal my wife and I ordered were cooked to perfection, as requested and were exquisitely seasoned. They offer several specials of the day, some of them hard to find elsewhere (like the thick veal cut i ordered). You can feel that someone in the kitchen care about the dishes leaving for the customers. \r The place ressemble a European restaurant, the decor is unique and relaxing with a great variety of Italian dishes and vases on the walls. They have a store next door where you can purchase these italian pottery. \r We arrived on the late side (9:00 PM) and it was at least still half full. The accoustic was not the best and it felt a bit noisy. As the tables emptied the ambiance became much cozier. Customers enjoyed continuing talking long after their meal was finished. They serve fairly late, a couple walked in past 10:00 PM and was sitted.\r Price wise, with a shared salad for appetizer, two entrees, a shared desert and a large bottle of sparkling water with pay $60/person including tip and taxes (no wine). But that is the average price for decent food in LA and many places charge this amount for in fact very averadge food.\r The service was outstanding.\r In all we had a delightful romantic evening, we will go back to La Pergola and highly recommend it.\r Pros: food, service, ambiance Cons: accoustic
