Review content:
I heard some very nice things about The Farm, and so, on the spur of the moment, I took the Q train over there to check out the restaurant this past Saturday. It's on Cortelyou Road, several blocks down from the train station in a part of Brooklyn that seems more like a small town in a different state. There are beautiful Victorians on the side streets, several shops (although not many), and The Farm itself is a small, laid-back restaurant, with understated but comfortable decor. I was seated right away next to the open doors to the pretty little garden in the back, and it was the perfect autumn day for it. I ordered the delicious French toast, served with fresh strawberries and maple syrup, and had some refreshing Mountain Mint Green Tea. I had the blonde waitress, and couldn't find any fault with her (as another reviewer did). She was pleasant and attentive, and asked me how everything was. I told her that the French toast, enrobed in cinnamon, was like eating a sweet brioche - very light! I sinned further and had some coconut sorbet for dessert., but I didn't care. I was enjoying the homey atmosphere. When I left, she said ""Please come back soon!"" , and I replied, ""You bet!"", and meant it. As a native Brooklynite, I love to find little treasures like The Farm in my borough. It is a welcoming place with good food in a charming part of my world. When I was there, it was only moderately busy, as this was after 3 pm, but before the dinner crowd. Add this to the list of engaging Brooklyn restaurants as are to also be found in Bay Ridge and the Slope. If you'd like to escape from the world for a while, and enjoy some good food and people in the bargain, then The Farm is the place to stop by.
Pros: Good food, garden seating, nice relaxing atmosphere
