Review content:
I love ice cream, I mean, it's my favorite food in the world! Or at least it was. But this isn't ice cream, it's better! I must admit, I was skeptical for a while before my friends convinced me to try it. My apprehension was based on most people's apprehension for anything new or different: the unknown. I thought it was a version of frozen yogurt, of which I'm not a fan. \r
I found a Sheridan's in Lubbock where I lived for a while and was overjoyed to learn there was one near my new home in Fort Worth. Even though Sheridan's is a 30 minute drive to Watauga, it is well worth it. \r
The bad thing about ice cream is that it's so darn cold! But frozen custard is different because it is served about 25 degrees warmer than ice cream. Don't get me wrong, it's still cold, but it won't give you the headache freeze. This is good since I have a hard time not putting the whole cup of custard goodness in my mouth at once. Custard is much creamier and smoother than ice cream which has more of an icy-frozen texture to it. They come in either vanilla or chocolate flavors to which you can add almost any topping: fruit, candy bars, cookies, candy, etc. The custard itself is not overwhelmingly flavorful, but has just the right abount of flavor. Most of the flavor will come from your toppings and mixings. My personal favorite is the carmel pretzel crunch concrete. Or I like just the plain old vanilla custard by itself. Sometimes I'll have the chocolate custard with chocolate sauce. Go during the summer in the evenings for a cool treat. They even have heaters over the patio for the extreme custard eaters who can't stay way during the colder times of the year. I think they only accept cash, so be prepared. It's a terrific ending to a date, but beware of the kids that will be running about. Enjoy!
