Review content:
A recent visit on a Saturday evening to the Capital Grille in Phoenix turned out to be enjoyable, satisfying, delectable and pleasant for our party of three. The atmosphere is upscale elegant, the staff uniforms are white linen and black slacks making for an impressive outing for entertaining a friend or client. Our server, Jennifer Smith, took unbelievably wonderful care of us, from explaining the menu to suggestions on the wine list. She was attentive but not bothersome, allowing us to enjoy our meal and conversation while never having to look for her to refill a glass. The food was well prepared, unique and generously portioned. I enjoyed the dry aged porterhouse, my wife had the chef special delmonico and our guest enjoyed the filet mignon. We enjoyed sides of the chefs special mashed potatoes and broccolini. We started with the Wedge salad (outstanding!) and a mixed green salad with house dressing. Our appetizer was an interesting capicola wrapped cheese, and for desert we shared the strawberries and vanilla bean custard and their version or a triple chocolate fudge cake - a wedge big enough to feed a small village. Jennifer shared wine recommendations with me, and upon request brought out a special list by the glass, where I found a terrific merlot that retails for $150 a bottle, sold by the glass for $19 - an incredible value and just the ticket with the dry aged red beef. We sat and indulged in this feast and conversation for over 2 hours on a busy saturday night without a comment or evil eye from any of the staff. I WILL return, and will be certain to request our outstanding waitress Jennifer. Highly Recommended, this experience wont be inexpensive but will be worth every penny. Be certain to make reservatons well in advance, it books up early. Located in a mall but once you step inside that harldy matters.
Pros: Service, dry aged beef
Cons: in a strip mall, no imported draft beer
