Review content:
On our tour of NASCAR shops we decided to visit the Childress winery. We had previously tried Childress' Blush and were pleased. Driving up to the hall was like driving into an Italian countryside. As you pass the main gate and weave through the rows of vines, each labeled for which grape they are, you come upon the castle-like main building. There is a large fountain in front and ample parking. The building looks like it was carved of stone and wood and the doors bare the Childress crest.
When you walk through the doors you are truly stepping into another world. The large indoor fountain and enormous Christmas tree greet you upon entry. The gift shop is full of wine goodies, accessories, shirts, candles and anything that is wine. There is a beautiful area for tasting the wines and a helpful staff awaiting your questions.
We ate lunch at the Bistro and were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful, yet inexpensive the meal was. The menu is decadent and you will want to try it all. I highly recommend you try the vinaigrette dressing, it is divine!
We were blessed with seeing Mr. Childress on our visit. I give this wine and winery five stars.
