Review content:
Daily Bread is a wonderful addition to our community and the restaurant appeals to out of towners also. I actually know Johnson City residents who drive to Kingsport just to eat there. And I have out of state relatives who make Daily Bread a must whenever they are visiting.
Not only do the owners make most of the food fresh and on site, they do so with mostly organic ingredients. The hand carved meats will spoil you, I can no longer enjoy a sandwich made with deli meat.
One of my favorite dishes has been the Pecan-Crusted Trout, which is only available when they have fresh, local trout. And the sides are some of the best macaroni salad, potato salad and cole slaw you can find. No, it isn't your Mama's recipe but it is delicious.
I have only sampled a few of the desserts because I don't have enough self control to stop with just a few bites; but the coconut cake, cheesecakes, muffins and the divine cannolli are excellent and freshly made. There are specialty Italian cookies shipped in from New York that are hard to find in this area and the owners are very honest and upfront about what is made on site and what isn't.
If you check the menu on here and don't see anything that appeals to you, still consider giving Daily Bread a try. They have daily specials based on whatever fresh ingredients are available that day. The menu is only half the story of the great food you can find here.
