I reported my car as stolen on 11/29/10 when I discovered the car missing. My assistant parked near 14th and Wash Ave. on 11/24/10 and came back 3 hours later, the car was gone while I was out of town. The towing, either Beach Towing or Tremont (they're in the same mafia with the police) moved the car to 10th street somewhere on purpose so that it cannot be located. Three months, later, around Jan 15, 2011, I got a notice in the mail from Miami Dade Parking violations stating that I owe them $771 in parking tickets. It got towed to Beach Towing since December because the car was ""abandoned"". They towed my car from a legal parking spot on 11/24/10 to an unknown spot, so that I could not find my car so now I had to pay $689.00 from Beach towing. Because I didn't get a chance to fix the $771 in parking tickets, since I've already spent $700 in towing fees, now the parking tickets went up to $889.00 and the car is now ""impounded"" at Tremont towing and I can't get the car out until $889.00 is paid. So, I went today (3/15/11) to Miami Dade Parking Violation Bureau, showed them the actual police report that the car was reported missing since 11/29 and I got a receipt from Miami Parking saying that I owe ""0"" dollars and I have a court date to resolve my tickets, which will take 6-8 weeks to go to court. I have the receipt document with ""0.00"" paid with original signature from the director of Parking. When I got to Tremont, they told me that I need an actual receipt,, which I had, but they still refused to release the car, saying I don't have the actual receipt with the parking bills paid. Basically what this boils down to is that Tremon want to keep my car hostage for another 6-8 weeks until I go to court and settle they payment. However, per the director at the Parking Bureau, I have documentation to get my car out. I contacted the police, spoke to officer Rosenthal, who has taken my original report of the stolen vehicle back on 29Nov10, so she knows the history of my car status. However when 2 officers showed up, I explained my situation, the manager of the store wanted me to show them a receipt that said I paid the ticket, which I produced the receipt from Dade Parking Bureau that said I didn't not have to pay, hence the (0.00) dollar transaction. But Tremont wanted me to produce the receipt. Long story short, the police officer who showed up basically said I he can produce a receipt (which, he hinted for a price). \r
Let me tell you the nightmare I've had with this experience on South Beach. The police, Dade Parking enforcements and the two towing company Tremont and Beach towing on Bay Road all work together, scamming tourists, local citizens and prey on victims so that these 2 bastard towing companies collect cash and divide among themselves. I swear to God, I have never seen such evil doings in my entire life. Having moved from Maryland and living here in South Florida, I must say this is the worse. I bought this used car from a friend of mine for $2,900. My towing fees and parking fines comes to about $2700.00 so far, and my car is still being held hostage at Tremont until I get a court date to justify the parking fines, which was not my fault in the first place since they caused my car to be missing and ""abandoned' at another location on south beach. There is no justice to be found. Miami Dade wants me to pay the parking bond of $889 in parking tickets before I go to court. That is more than a dealing with a bond agent to get a person out jail, let alone my measly $2900 used car. It is a bad dream that have not ended for me.
