Review content:
This outfit takes advantage of its ""customers"" and should be avoided at all costs, because the costs will extraordinarily steep. The owner, who was parked behind his desk with apparently little to do, defended his price gouging practices by proclaiming that he's been doing it that way for ""sixty years.""\r
\r
Wilcox will charge the absolute most it can, under apparently any circumstance, including a stiff ""storage fee"" that is a joke considering that its storage premises consist of a weedy lot in a struggling part of Upstate New York.\r
\r
The owner has no concept of customer service and appears poised to take advantage of any circumstance he can. While the vehicle repair business appears straightforward enough, there are so many other, better car repair businesses in the Vestal-Binghamton area that there is no rational reason to voluntarily choose Wilcox. Without the towing franchise likely the vehicle repair would go out of business.\r
\r
The bottom line is that Wilcox, owner and company, makes what it can off the misery of others - a vehicle accident requiring a tow, or a disabled car or truck. They would rather not act in a way that would attract repeat customers, but instead take care of themselves at the expense of those unlucky enough to need a tow. Following are more rputable towing firms in this region:\r
\r
Dcks, 724-9567 (I've used these guys; very professional)\r
\r
Klock, 692-4111\r
\r
Airborne 748-4090 (repair capability, also)\r
\r
KRS, 797-7999
Pros: Repairman ""Rick"" seems like a nice guy
Cons: Owner looks to gouge tow customers
