Businiess name:  James F Scola Attorney
Review by:  citysearch c.
Review content:
James Scola handled the refinance of my home in 2008. It was to be a very standard refinance of home that I occupy with my family. To make a very, very long story short, Jim screwed it up big time and almost cost me my home, my credit history and more than $4000 in legal fees from a separate attorney to help me clean up the mess. What we figured out was that James Scola's finances were a total mess and caused the payout check to my old lender to bounce. His account was way overdrawn and the money that I received from the new lender had vanished because it was used to pay other accounts. This breaks many rules in the way of proper real estate law. Jim was initially not upfront with me about this issue as it was unfolding, but after I received latters from my old lender demanding payment - he finally came clean. He apologized for the screw up and then proceeded to be no help whatsoever - he was too busy taking care of his own reputation and business. Ten months, five ulcers, and four thousand dollars later, I was securely in my new mortgage and no more threats of foreclosure. Thank god for title insurance! Jim offered to cover my legal expenses but then didnt come through after a year of calling him. Stay away from this guy. James Scola is an incompetent and dishonest lawyer. Pros: Drives a nice car Cons: Almost lost me my home, destroyed my credit
