Review content:
so, i called on wednesday sept 3 2008 to make sure that wickham's apple picking season had already started. I was told by someone who spoke way more spanish than english that yes, they were indeed ready for picking. i packed up my whole family and trucked my very uncomfortable pregnant self out to the east end of long island all the way from nassau county. we proceed to the booth where you go to pick up the ""bushel"" bag to fill with apples. last year the bag easily fit 30 lbs of apples and cost $24. there was no price for admission to the farm. this year, we waited 10 minutes at the booth before before a woman speaking broken english approached me and said that they are doing the small bag, which fits about 8 or 9 lbs of apples for $20 and $1 admission for all five of us. just to appease my kids, i was going to do it. even though i was peeved at the extreme difference in price. then thats when she told me ""yeah, you cannot go apple picking today, only peach picking""/ too bad peach season is already done for at least a week now. i cannot fathom why they advertise on their website that apple season started on 9/1/08 but that is a lie. the employees essentially bait you to come out with those lies when you call to double check. needless to say, we left, i will not be returning to wickham's farm for any fruit picking.. its too bad for wickhams that they decreased in quality and value. we used to love going there every september. guess we need to start a new family tradition. I will try out Fort Salonga Farm in Northport at my next opportunity Pros: lots of parking since no one goes there anymore Cons: inflated price, small amount for your dollar, dishonest employees
