Review content:
QUICK REVIEW: Marty's was fast, knowledgeable and fairly priced - it's Forest Hills, but worth the trip!\r \r FULL REVIEW:\r My little Sony Cybershot digital camera has been a trouper for 4 years, then I go to use it a couple weeks ago, and none of the buttons work. Sony tech support is USELESS, so I look on Citysearch and read about Marty's Camera - the review makes it promising. And its location outside of Manhattan might make the price more reasonable, too.\r \r EASY COMMUTE - really!\r Marty's is in Forest Hills. Now come on, it's a quick trip on the R train, so quit whining, grab a book or your iPod and go. It was 45 minutes from my Astoria nabe, and that's going in to Manhattan to switch to the R. Takes me longer to get to Battery Park or Brooklyn. \r \r NO FRILLS & KNOWLEDGEABLE\r The shop's a 2-room office on the 2nd floor, and it's packed with photo equip of all kinds from all eras. The guys greeted me quickly, asked me the problem, told me to keep my memory card, and they'd look and call me. I got a call about 2 hours later, and some sensor inside wasn't sensing the button pushes anymore. They could fix it.\r \r PRICE IS RIGHT\r The total (with tax!) would be $60, and it would be ready the next day. Excellent!\r \r RESPONSIVE\r When I dropped off the camera, the guys answered all my questions. They called quickly to give me the estimated price, and they called the next day to say it was ready.\r \r I'll be going there in future. Yes, it's Forest Hills, but I when I went to pick it up, and spent some time walking around the nabe and peeking at the posh houses beyond the LIRR station....it's worth the trip, for Marty's and a bit of sightseeing! Pros: Knowledgeable, quick, reasonable, good follow-up Cons: Forest Hills, but make it a + by doing some sightseeing too!
