I've been going to Plaza West since 2008 and have never had a bad experience yet. When you step into the facility (which is in renovated older building), it's like you are leaving the hypercompetitive rat race behind and stepping into a charming relaxing beach house. Island touches are everywhere in the decor from fresh flowers to beach portraits on the wall. The staff is friendly and open and makes you feel welcome. Their massages are excellent and they are very flexible with scheduling. The massage therapists are very respectful and responsive to requests such as more or less pressure, etc. Contrary to some other reviews, I have never found the place to be dirty and I have been there several different times. The building is older and has historic character, but that is not the same thing as being dirty. I have used several of their services, including massages (w/ and w/out aromatherapy and hot stone treatment), salt glow body scrubs, the sauna, and even their delicious spa lunch - it was gorgeous poached salmon with fresh greens, and it was soooo good! Served with iced tea - yum! I felt like I had been transported to Hawaii, yet I was right in the middle of Kansas City in the middle of winter! And my skin has never looked better. It almost glowed and felt very soft and healthy after the body scrub. In short, if you are looking for a shiny but soulless medical spa where you feel like a patient in a hospital, you should probably look elsewhere. But if you are wanting to relax and be pampered with wonderful massages, friendly and excellent customer service, and a warm island atmosphere, Plaza West is the best!
