Review content:
My brother and I purchased two cows from a rancher who raises 100% grass-fed beef. Then they were butchered by Fentiman's or D&T Freezer Meats. During Aug. and Sept we called Fentiman's (D &T) several times. Both my brother and I were told the price for butchering. They said we would pay 45 cents per lb. of hanging weight. The cows were butchered on Sept. 14 and we picked up the meat on Sept. 24, 2007. When we arrived to pick up our meat, we were told we would have to pay 55 cents per pound. Neither Dean nor Tony denied having quoted a different price. They said that they had raised the price at the beginning of September and we would have to pay it. When confronted with the statement that they had not told us at any point between September 1 and September 14 about this new price structure their answer was that Tony didn?t know that Dean had raised the price and we had to pay it. Things got nasty. Both Tony and Dean quickly became abusive, loud, and threatening. They told us to ?f*** off,? called my brother an ?old man,? (he is 61) and screamed at us to get out of their business. We left the business, stood in the parking lot, and called the police. Once the police arrived, we paid the amount demanded for our beef, took our meat, and left. We had already invested more than $1200 on the cows from the rancher and could not afford to walk away. Fentiman?s, aka ?D and T Freezer Meats,? knew that they had us over a barrel and took advantage of us to get just a few more pennies out of us. Although the normal return of meat to live weight is about 50%, we received 34% of the live weight in meat. Integrity is important. There is no check or balance in the system that would allow us to claim theft. I truly hope that this letter can be spread around as much as possible in the northern Colorado area in order to protect others from being as badly hurt as we were by Fentiman?s Freezer Meats aka ?D and T Freezer Meats.? Sincerely, Lua Sage Fisher
Pros: none at all
Cons: dishonesty, no integrity
