Review content:
We went here for a birthday celebration a couple of weeks ago and our party enjoyed the private booth that we had in the corner. It looked a lot older inside than I expected, like the place hadn't been updated since the 70's or maybe even before that time. It was clean though. The servers were very friendly and attentive and always came back to refill our drinks. The food came out quickly but we were disappointed with the calamari appetizer - it was overcooked, rubbery, and tasted too fishy, so it obviously wasn't fresh. I also wasn't impressed with my salmon, especially when paired with salty olives and artichokes. The olives overpowered the whole dish so I didn't finish it - but luckily I was with good company who always let me try their food! My friend had the best dish at the table - the macadamea nut crusted halibut w/rice pilaf. The halibut was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the rice was great with a little bit of green onion. Our husbands had pasta dishes (one with seafood, one w/chicken) and neither were too thrilled about their dish. I tried a bite of my husband's pasta and our other guest's cheese ravioli and they were both overcooked. The ravioli was also too salty. After all the salty food I had that night I had to drink at least three glasses of water. I'm trying to remember anything else positive about the food but I can only say the macadamea nut crusted hailbut was the best. No one tried a steak dinner but I don't think we'll go back to give it a try. We know enough good steak restaurants to go to instead of bothering w/ this place. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place, especially after tasting the food at Verona's Cucina Italiana, a great restaurant in the same shopping center but hidden in the back.
Pros: macadamea nut crusted halibut w/ rice pilaf
Cons: the worst calamari, and overcooked, salty pasta
