On 12/05/06 I signed a contract with Mr. Mainer to install a ramp on our deck for my mother who at the time was 92 years old and to replace numerous flooring boards (26) on our deck due to age. Mr. Mainer was nothing but trouble during the whole time he worked on the ramp...which by the way he never finished. He ended up just walking off the job one day and never came back and would not return any phone calls. The last phone calls I made to his office and left phone messages was on 1/1/06. My wife saw him several weeks after he walked off the job at Bloom grocery store in Harrisburg. When she asked him about what he did to us, he answered I left Tom enought money to finish the job. I was 61 years old, going on 62 at that time and I have a heart condition. The reason I hired a contractor to do this work was do to my health. I ended up having to finish the ramp, that is after I had to redo part of the work due to the workmanship, which was terrible (the last day on the job they just ripped the boards , all the cuts were terrible and the hand railing vertical boards were not cut the same lengths, they just eye balled the 2 X 4's and ripped away. It took me 8 days to do this work, this was due to my health as I had to go slow due to my heart condition. I had to purchase a miter saw in the process to make the proper cuts and all the supplies to finish the work. Also, Mr. Mainer promised that the work would be completed in two weeks, as written on the contract. This was providing, weather permitting. He should of been able to complete this work in the time he promised, that is if he would of worked full days, he only worked three to four hours maximum at a time, that is on the days he showed up. The over all weather was good doing this time. He verbally informed me the day we signed the contract with him that the work should only take three to four days to complete. I would advise anyone not to use this contractor for any reason, no matter how small the job is! Pros: Seemed to be a very nice person, very smooth talker...said all the right things. Cons: Can not be trusted! All he did was complain once he was on the job.
