On Feb. 1, 2012: Called Art of Motion and left a message for the owner that I had a few concerns and may need to pull my daughter out of the class. Later that day the owner called me and was very unprofessional. She started the conversation off by introducing herself and informing me that she is aware of my concerns and that I should withdraw my daughter from the class if I was not happy. I informed the owner that it concerns me that she isn’t interested in knowing the concerns that I had. I then elaborated on my concerns, stating the following:\r
*Disorganized – since the move to the new building the Art of Motion staff is not organized. On Jan. 24, 2012, an employee of Art of Motion stated that my daughter’s dress was available and that he would get it for me. The employee tried servicing other parents forgetting that he suggested giving me my daughter’s dress after reminding him, he ran about , stating I need to make a call and that he would be right back. After 25 minutes (approx. 7:10pm), I decided to leave because I needed to get home to feed my 2 year old dinner.\r
*Seating – since the move to the new building, there has not been enough seating for parents so parents who have paid tuition end of sitting on the floor.\r
*Heating – since the move to the new building, there hasn’t been ample heat to warm the warehouse. So, kids (2 years old) end up having cold hands as if they were out playing in the snow without gloves. This is clearly unacceptable.\r
*Parent involvement – Since this is a 2 year old program of creative movement, I believe that if a child is sad or calling for their parent that the teacher should walk the child out to their parent for consoling. To improve this, I believe the owner should incorporate parent involvement since most of these kids who haven’t been away from their parents and even if they have they are way too young to not be seen.\r
After sharing this information with the owner she was very unprofessional and was clear that she did not plan to make any changes and agreed that I should withdraw my child from her dance class. I was very surprised with her response. It is clear to me that customer service is not a focus for this dance school because they are not focused on customer retention and satisfaction. \r
Do not patronize the “Art of Motion” dance school in Owings Mills, MD.\r
