This is the second time I have used this Pep Boys and the second time they have gone over a phone estimate without my permission. This time I took my car for an oil change and two tires. I was told a price -- I said it was too high. Pep Boys called me back and said tires were on sale and they would give me 40% off. I was given a final price and I said ok, but that they could not go over that amount. When I went to pick up my care the bill was $100 over the amount I approved of. Turns out the tires were not on sale at the register but that I had to do a mail in rebate. I had specifically told the manager I was on a budget and he said not to worry, I would only need $432. That was a lie -- I needed much more -- a mail in rebate is not the same thing as a final bill to be paid at the register. The other time they did unauthorized work and the bill was more than $250 above what I approved of. To get my car back I had to pay. Bottom line ASK QUESTIONS and get everything in writing. What they tell you on the phone never holds true. Note: I never ever had this type of trouble with Pep Boys in Upland, CA -- 7 years there an no complaints -- but the Fallbrook location really stinks and I will never go back.
