Review content:
I was so excited to go to the Skin Institute. My skin has progressively gotten worse over the past few years. It's been manageable but I've been unhappy with the pimples and especially the purple scars left behind. My skin started clearing up recently when I purchased DDF (I HIGHLY recommend their products) but when I saw the Groupon for Skin Institute's AHA/Kojic Acid Peel I was excited. I have hyper-pigmented skin so it seemed like it would be perfect.
Tom, who did my facial, was extremely nice and explained everything as he did it. I was little confused about all the extractions being done (since I mostly had scars, not actual pimples) but I've only had 1 other facial in my life so I figured it was standard. Both him and Sheila (the owner) kept saying how cleaned up my face would be and were hyping it up so much.
I wish I was exaggerating when I say I look like I got beat up. I have 5 huge scabs on my cheeks and chin (my problem areas) and there's 4 large scratches on my face.. not terribly sure what those are from- I'm guessing either from how he did the extractions or from the laser wand he used. Yes, there's no redness and the pores on my nose are cleaned up. But I would give ANYTHING to go back to how it looked before. I would way rather have a few dark(ish) scars and zero pimples to now have giant scabs, scratches, and new pimples coming in.
All in all- STAY AWAY. I know the reviews sound great and I might be one of the few cases where this happens, but I wouldn't wish this upon anyone.
Pros: they're nice enough
Cons: they MUTILATE your face
