HOW I WISH I HAD READ THE REVIEWS FIRST!\r \r I fell for the Father and Sons Moving Company's website which says, ""Our Grandfather Moved Your Grandfather."" It should read, ""Our Grandfather Swindled Your Grandfather."" The furniture I sent is still sitting in their truck in Boston, and I have already had to report them to the Department of Transportation.\r \r What I wish I had known is that the Dept. of Transportation says that you must know the weight of the empty truck, and the weight of the items. If you disagree, you can have them weigh the items one by one in front of you. \r \r When I filled out this movers' bid form on line, describing all the pieces I wanted moved, the first call I got was from ""Joe"" at Father's and Sons. He said that my items weighed 600 pounds, the price would be $774.34. He also said I am paying for 1,000 pounds so I had 300-400 pounds to play with. He said to send a cashier's check for the above amount. The mover was supposed to arrive on Friday but came on Sunday. A family friend met the mover at the storage unit where the items had been placed. Because the furniture had belonged to my young nephew who recently passed away, we felt too sad to be there. After all, the move was paid in full so the items just had to be transferred from the storage unit to the truck. Our friend had added 2 boxes of dishes, a guitar, and a TV stand from the storage, since Joe said we had 300-400 pounds to spare. The trucker ""eyeballed"" the items and gave our friend a bill of $960. Our friend didn't know what I had paid. When I called Fathers and Sons, and spoke to Joe, I asked him why the mover said he had a paper from the dispatcher that said the move cost $960. Joe said, ""Maybe he stopped at a weigh station."" I said, ""But the truck was empty, and he said your company had given him that paper. When I called the truck driver on his cell, he told me that the company goes by ITEMs, not pounds. For over a week, I've been trying to straighten this out, and each time I get a different story. I notice that it is always the female ""assistant"" who has to shield the bosses and listen to the complaints. My own son is waiting in Florida for the furniture to arrive. It was picked up here a week ago Sunday. When I called the trucker he said, ""I can't go with a small load. Gas for the truck costs $400. I will call your son 24 hours before I arrive. When I asked if he had ANY idea when that might be, he said emphatically, ""I SAID I would call him before I arrive."" My nephew died, we wanted to give his furniture to his cousin who has a bare apartment in Florida, and it all seemed like a good idea. I don't even know if the furniture will ever get there. Next time, go to Boston Quality Movers. Some really honest young men bought it from a company that was a bait and switch like Fathers and Sons. Some one told me how good they are so I called and asked if they would get my furniture off the truck from Father and Sons and move it for me. They were so kind that they said it would cost me too much money, and I would probably never get my $774.24 back. I ran to the bank to send a cashier's check for just that amount so I could get it right in the mail. That was two weeks ago. I've never dealt with such a terrible company in my life.\r \r \r \r Cons: BAIT AND SWITCH
