If you're looking for something to do with out-of-town guests - or even something different - I suggest you take a carriage ride! My husband and I (we've lived in Grand Rapids all our lives) were walking around downtown when we saw a couple of horse and carriages in front of National City Bank and stopped to talk to the driver and pet the horses. Taking a ride sounded fun and wasn't all that expensive, so we went on a 1/2 hour ride. We're so glad we did. We saw the city from an entirely different angle and could actually take the time to just look at things. Grand Rapids is really a beautiful city when you take the time to enjoy it.\r \r Now secondly, I should recommend that you go with Classic Carriage, as the driver told me that there are actually three companies that regularly operate downtown (imagine that). We had a great time and the customer service was exemplary. I took a business card, because our youngest daughter is getting married this fall, and we plan to call about having a carriage for her wedding. \r \r Classic Carriage was really great! Pros: Really friendly people, fun/elegant activity, something new! Cons: They don't run every day - just weekends.
