Review content:
I went to this salon a couple months ago and got a great cut! I was so happy and I thought I had found my perfect salon and stylist which was amazing because I'm pretty picky about my hair. When I called to schedule a haircut recently, the receptionist told me my stylist no longer worked there. She suggested Colleen, and I made the appointment. Later on, I found out that she was an apprentice. If the receptionist had told me that in the beginning, I never would have made the appointment with her. Colleen breezed through how I was telling her I wanted my haircut, and I could tell she wasn't really listening. She took less than 10 minutes cutting my hair before she got out the blow dryer, and said she was going to dry cut the rest. Not 5 minutes later, she is reaching for product to send me on my way, without once asking if I was pleased with the cut. I pointed out to her that it needed to be shorter in the back, the length of the sides weren't even, and she had cut my swooping bangs without asking where my part was, so they were crooked and didn't lay properly. She made an effort to fix her mistakes, but it soon became apparent to me that she didn't have the skill to give me the cut that I wanted. I decided to just leave before she did irreparable damage and get my cut fixed elsewhere. I assume that she was being ""apprenticed"" by the salon owner who was working in the chair right next to her, but he never once glanced over or showed any interest in the cut, although it was apparent that I was unhappy with the way it was turning out. I understand that everyone starts out as a novice, but until Colleen is at the point where she is doing quality cuts, she should not be working on paying clients or at least kept under more careful supervision. Clients should DEFINITELY be informed that she is an apprentice BEFORE they make an appointment. Unfortunately, I do not think I will be returning to Appearances. Pros: friendliness, cute salon Cons: poor quality cut, not upfront about apprentices
