Review content:
I became aquainted with Ironwood Cancer & Research Center after cancer surgery. I was referred there for post surgical evaluation and treatment. I was quite apprehensive about what all would be involved. This was my first time having cancer and I was pretty nervous about the whole thing. When I met Dr Kellogg I was immediately put at ease. He assurred me that my care and treatment were of the highest priority and that Ironwood would help me through every step of my evaluation and treatmemt. He determined that my best course of post surgical treatment was chemotherapy. I had never heard a good story about chemo treatments. My first treatment was actually a comfortable experience. The nursing staff is extremely professional and patient oriented. Their primary concern is for their patient's comfort both physically and mentally. They took extra time to explain the entire process that would be part of my life for the next sixteen weeks. All of my questions were answered and my fears adderssed in a straightforward and honest manner. Their experience with a variety of patient's individual situations gives them a tremendous insight into what each patient can reasonably expect during chemo. While not really looking forward to going to chemo sessions, I was comfortable knowing I was going to an environment where I would be cared for. This caring spirit is found throughout the entire Ironwood staff. The people are great. The attitude is always positive. The support is reassurring and constant. I am extremely thankful to everyone at Ironwood for the care and compassion I was shown during my chemotherapy treatment. I continue to anticipate saying hello to the staff when I return for check-ups.
