Review content:
So after the dachshund from a breeder i wanted was sold the night before I was going to visit, I was really disheartened and wanted to at least look at some puppies. Prior to conversing with the breeder, I had happened upon Laughlin Kennel's website. I checked it out a few times, browsed the dachshunds, and to my surprise saw a gorrrrgeous dapple girl. I figured it was at least worth looking although i feared it was probably a puppy mill that supplied the dogs. I arrived there and it was busy, a bit rushed feeling, with a small office to view the dogs. I was surprised that the dogs i saw out anda bout were lively, except for my little dachshund. My heart melted and against my best intution I got her. I brought her to the vets 2 days later after reading the horror story reviews, and to my surprise, despite being grossly malnourished (poor thing was only 2.4 lbs at 11 weeks!) she was otherwise healthy. Two weeks later, my little girl is almost up tot 3 lbs and the vet says shes the most gorgeous dachshund he's seen. She didn't get kennel cough or anytthing yet luckily, so I think i'm in the clear health wise. However, my vet did see that she was from MO and said 90% sure she came from a puppy mill. So... although you can get a loving companion, be aware that when you buy from them you are supporting puppy mills. Btw the dogs are kept in the basement, besides the ones they breed and those are kept outside. The puppies are a little weird personality wise too, but who knows... Pros: large selection of dogs otherwise hard to find in new england Cons: Puppy mill... poor service...poor dog conditions in basement
