Comment update 2-05-07: There have been a few changes since my last review in August so I think it's fair to write a new review. Satori Academy is a great studio that teaches both traditional and mixed martial arts for people of all ages. Styles incorporated into the program include kempo, kick boxing, jeet kune do, jiu-jitsu, and various weapon training. Traditional katas are learned for belt promotions, but not emphasized as much like some other studios (in my opinion this is a good thing). Students will get a bag work at all levels; contact sparring at the intermediate & advanced levels. Instructors are friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help students excel in their training.\r
\r
Best days to go to Satori Academy have to be on Mondays and Wednesdays. On these two days instruction is held by none other than Ms. Gonzales. Her knowledge on the curriculum is immense. Furthermore, her conditioning regiment can be tough even for the strongest males in the class. Take a few classes with Ms.Gonzales and you'll be in better shape within a month. If your looking to sweat and get in shape for the summer come on Mondays and Wednesday.\r
\r
Pros: Friendly staff willing to give help and advice when needed. Clean studio, new equipment, location is one of Sacramento's top Neighborhoods. Offers a variety of programs for young and old. Great place to start for people with prior no prior martial arts experience.\r
\r
Cons: Increase in price may scare student?s new and current students away. Optional classes sometimes require students to purchase additional equipment. Parking is packed. Get their early. Lack of reality based defense classes and sparring sessions.
