Review content:
I went to Central Fish Co. for the first time two days ago. I could tell their whole fish was not fresh. The eyes of the fish were not clear at all, and the flesh looked off color. I selected a halibut filet. I should have smelled it before I bought it. For those of you who might not be aware, fresh fish should NOT smell like fish. Some may think fish should smell like fish but if you have ever smelled raw **fresh** fish it does NOT smell fishy. Just think of Sushi. When you eat Sushi it does not smell at all no matter what kind of fish you get.\r
\r
I took it home opened and opened it right away to cook it. When I opened the package the smell was absolutely putrid. Like rotting fish in the sun. \r
\r
I would like to think this was just a fluke for Central Fish Co. but I can't. The person that is packaging the fish for you when you select it should be the final quality control for the business. If he smells the fish he KNOWS its not good and therefore should not sell it to you. I am chalking up my $17.00 loss to an educational experience to NEVER go to Central Fish Co. again. If they cook the same fish they sell in their restaurant I would stay away from that also.
Pros: Big Selection
Cons: None of it fresh
